1.     Introduction

 The MT7160/1.6M horizontal spindle surface grinder with rectangular table is a precision machining equipment used for grinding the horizontal surface of workpieces by using a grinding wheel, and can also be used for grinding the vertical faces and grooves of workpieces using the end face of the grinding wheel. The machine layout adopts a column that moves horizontally driven by an electrical motor, which can meet the requirements of rapid movement and intermittent feeding. The vertical movement of the worktable is hydraulically stepless speed-regulated, and the vertical guide rail lubrication uses a constant volume open static pressure guide rail. The horizontal and vertical guide rails of the column are composed of steel-embedded and quenched preloaded rolling guide rails, which are lightweight and have sensitive feed.

2.    Product Composition 

This machine tool is composed of a bed, column, grinding head, worktable and electromagnetic worktable, hydraulic system, mechanical transmission system, and control system.

3. Machine Structure Performance

(1)  Bed

The bed of the machine tool is made of high-quality cast iron, and undergoes a second artificial aging treatment during the manufacturing process. The internal structure is uniform, and the structural performance is stable, with advantages such as load-bearing, compression resistance, wear resistance, etc. The machine tool adopts a front and rear bed joint layout with a frame structure. There are one V-shaped and one flat guide rail design. The guide rail surface is precision machined, with good guiding performance, ensuring the accuracy, strength, and stability required for precision machining.

(2)  Column

The machine tool adopts a column movement layout, frame structure, and column grip grinding head form. The structure is advanced and the accuracy is stable. It is made of high-quality gray cast iron and undergoes a second artificial aging treatment during the manufacturing process. The internal structure is uniform, and the structural performance is stable, with advantages such as load-bearing, compression resistance, wear resistance, etc. The horizontal movement direction of the column is a steel-embedded and quenched rolling guide rail structure, which is driven by a motor through a screw. The movement is smooth and the accuracy is reliable.

(3)  Grinding Head 

The grinding head is composed of a sleeve, spindle, rolling bearing, flange, and grinding wheel chuck, and other components. The assembly is installed in the grinding head casing surrounded by the column, with the characteristics of convenient maintenance and simple assembly. The grinding head has 12 levels of automatic vertical feed, with an increment of 0.0025mm starting from 0.0025mm, and the minimum scale value of the lifting handwheel is 0.005mm, suitable for grinding large molds, tools, and cutters. The vertical movement direction of the grinding head is a steel-embedded and quenched rolling guide rail structure, which is driven by a motor through a screw. The movement is smooth and the accuracy is reliable.

(4)  Worktable and Electromagnetic Worktable 

The worktable is made of high-quality cast iron and undergoes a second artificial aging treatment during the manufacturing process. The internal structure is uniform, and the structural performance is stable, with load-bearing, compression resistance, wear resistance, and easy machining characteristics.

On the worktable, there are T-slots, which can fix the electromagnetic worktable or large workpieces. In the lower part of the worktable, there are one V-shaped and one flat guide rail design, and there are several oil chambers on the V-flat guide rail. During the operation of the machine tool, the external pressure oil is supplied to the oil cavities on the worktable guide rails, which pressurizes the oil and creates an oil film between the bed and the worktable guide rails. This ensures that the two relative moving guide rails are always in a liquid friction state, and the machine tool guide rails have a long service life and the guide rail surface never wears, which can maintain the geometric accuracy of the machine tool guide rails for a long time and ensure the machining accuracy of the machine tool.

The electromagnetic worktable is installed on the worktable surface as a fixture for holding general workpieces. The installation or removal of the electromagnetic worktable can be determined according to the workpiece being processed. The electromagnetic worktable has a demagnetization protection function.

(5)  Hydraulic System 

The vertical movement of the worktable is hydraulically controlled with infinite speed adjustment, and it uses fixed-capacity static pressure guide rails. The movement is stable and can bear heavy loads. At the end of the worktable, our company has developed a multi-pump system composed of multiple oil pumps. Each pump supplies oil to various oil cavities on the worktable guide rail, creating a certain amount of oil film between the worktable and guide rail, which avoids dry friction between the guide rails and ensures the precision of the guide rails over the long term. This makes the guide rails run smoothly and become wear-resistant guide rails.

(6)  Mechanical Transmission System and Control System 

6-1. The column of the machine tool can move laterally in continuous, automatic intermittent feed, and manual feed modes. When the column moves laterally, it can realize the reversing function. 

6-2. The grinding head has the functions of quick lifting, automatic vertical feed, and manual vertical feed. The automatic feed zero position is controlled, and the vertical automatic feed of the grinding head has 12 levels, starting from 0.0025mm and increasing by 0.0025mm per level. The minimum scale value of the lifting handwheel is 0.005mm.

(7)  Safety Protection 

The protective shield and grinding wheel protective cover of the machine tool strictly comply with the national standard GB15760-2004 "General Technical Conditions for Safety Protection of Metal Cutting Machine Tools" and the departmental standard "Safety Protection Technical Requirements for Grinding Wheel Protective Covers", ensuring the safe operation of the machine tool.
